Before you begin to sharpen blade, place bushing (attached to handle) on guide rod. Pull handle and bushing into guide rod while pulling jig and guide rod in opposite direction, seating bushing onto guide rod.
Slide bushing and handle along guide rod without touching blade to file. Do this till you have the feel of the smoothness of movement of tool.
Slowly bring blade in grazing contact with file. The secret of a good edge is one sharpened under the least of pressure. Let the tool do the work.
